It is important for adolescents to participate in extracurricular activities. Student who participate in these activities improve their academic scores and social life. Extracurricular activities can also help reduce many peer pressure related problems. â€Å"They enrich the lives of the students, their families and our communities. These activities create well rounded children who learn what their interests and talents are because they have been exposed to such opportunities† (Extracurricular Activities, Blogadmin). For most adolescents extracurricular activities should be required among what they do outside of school. What are extracurricular activities? Extracurricular activities are those sponsored by and usually held at school but are not part of the academic curriculum. There are usually many extracurricular activities available including team sports, such as soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball, and academic interests such as foreign language club, debate team, chess club, student government, student publications, 4-H Club, environmental clubs, choir, band, photography, politics, and business (Wells). There are activities for everybody so encourage adolescents to go try something, and they might turn up liking it. To get involved in these activities schools usually have a list of multiple activities that a student can be in (Dowshen). There might be a certain age that is required to be in activity, but there are endless amounts of things that adolescents can do (Dowshen). Money is one of the other big problems most kids think of when they want to go into an extracurricular activity. Most of the money that will need for the activity can be cut down by fundraising. My dad is my hero Essay

A father is a person that everybody in the world should love. I love my father because he has taken care of me since I was born and not only did he took care of me but he also loved me, protected me when I was little. And has helped me in everything I had needed. Therefore my father is m hero. I cannot remember a person in my life that had a more significant influence on me than my father. My father has been the driving force behind my academic achievement. Everything I have been able to accomplish with regards to school, I have him to thank for. Throughout my life, my father has been responsible, caring, strict in his guidelines, and yet understanding of the difficulty of being a teen. This behavior has, throughout my academic history, allowed me to grow and expand my future possibilities. There are times when I speak to my father, and he simply dazzles me with his knowledge when I was just simply asking an easy question. But I like it what way because with that he shows me a lot more I didn’t know about the question. And he also is a very good role model for any children and he has been my role model since the day I was born. My father is a respected father and loved husband. My father also has given me all the right directions to believe in God. And therefore everything I have said is why I love ,respect, and why he is very special for me.

Teen suicide is a tragic event that happens all the time. â€Å"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the third leading cause of death in kids 15-24† (Nami). Teenage years are a hard and trying time for kids. The kids have to deal with all the problems of transitioning into adulthood along with everything else. â€Å"On average, adolescents aged 15-19 years have an annual suicide rate of about 1 in 10,000 people† (â€Å"adolescent suicide†). Many factors may be the culprit of why teens commit suicide. The three main reasons teens commit suicide is depression, substance abuse, and psychological disorders. One of the major causes of teenage suicides is depression. â€Å"Approximately 75 percent of people who commit suicide suffer from depression, according to the Harris county psychiatric center at the University of Texas† (Shaw). Depression can give teenagers a feeling of worthlessness and hopelessness. Many people are put on daily medications to help with depression. Some people are hospitalized because the effects of depression are so bad. Parents need to recognize and be aware of the symptoms of depression in teenagers. Teenagers often plan suicide silently without anyone ever realizing it. Depression can be especially harmful to teens that experience school or home violence, feel left out from peers and a reduction in social life.
